Progress Updates by Month:

September Reviewed action plan with STAT members who weren't at the TABS Summit. Went over the reasoning of why the action plan was selcted and went over duties that the STAT members could help out with.
October Viewed an environmental scan done by a youth group from another state that looked at the marketing of tobacco, alcohol and sexual content so STAT members could get an idea of what one looks like and to also give them some direction on how to go forward with their environmental scan.
November STAT members went out into the community and started to take pictures of how alcohol was being marketed in the community by looking at the types of product being marketed, placeement, price, and promotion. STAT members also started to contact schools and community groups about giving a presentation of their environmental scan.
December STAT members looked at the pictures that have been taken thus far for the environmental scan and discussed and decided which pictures they wanted to have in the environmental scan.
January STAT discussed reaching out to the other schools in the district about partnering up and helping with the envrionmental scan since the project is taking longer than expected. Target date for having more youth attend STAT is February 1.
February STAT had their first meeting with new members from other school districts and shared the environmental scan project with them. Explaining that the project is trying capture the whole community of Shawnee County and not just certain area of how alcohol is being marketed. STAT members are also helping with spreading the word about an upcoming "Town Hall" meeting that Safe Streets is hosting.
March Showed the new members of STAT the environmental scan from the other youth gruop so they could have a visual of what an envrionmental scan looks like. Current and new STAT members were to go out in the community and take new pictures of what they are seeing in the community related to alcohol being marketed (i.e. clothing, placement, promotion, product and price)
