To promote positive youth behaviors by supporting diverse Kansas families and
communities through education, networking and advocacy.
About Us
Kansas Family Partnership, Inc., (KFP) is a highly-respected, non-profit, private
agency that has been providing research-based drug and alcohol prevention
resources and training opportunities for individuals, organizations and policy-makers
throughout Kansas for the past decade. KFP is part of a statewide prevention
infrastructure that includes state and local entities such as
the Kansas Regional Prevention Centers that serve all 105 counties in the state,
community coalitions and grassroots organizations, law enforcement, and the
Kansas Army National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Unit. In addition, KFP is
a member of many national organizations and professional associations in
the prevention community.
Kansas Family Partnership grew out of a statewide initiative adopted
in 1991 known as the Kansas Family Initiative. In 1995, the Kansas
Family Initiative became Kansas Family Partnership, Inc., and was
established as a not-for-profit organization.
KFP services and programs include:
- A prevention newsletter printed 3 times per year that is distributed statewide
to over 7,500 readers
- A vast Web site that provides instant access to valuable prevention
information, training and resources
- An e-newsletter for community coalitions and others interested in prevention information throughout the state
- RADAR (Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resources) – providing
free prevention printed and audio/visual materials to individuals and organizations in Kansas
- The Annual Kansas Red Ribbon Anti-Drug Campaign
- Kansas SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
- Kansas Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free Initiative
- Family Day-A day to eat dinner with your children, a nationwide awareness campaign implemented statewide
- Kansas Youth Leadership Summit (KYLS/TABS)
National Recognition
In recent years, Kansas Family Partnership, Inc., has received national recognition
for its contributions to the field of prevention. The National Family Partnership
presented KFP with an Award of Excellence as an Outstanding State Partner,
and the Center for Substance Abuse (CSAP) honored KFP as one of America’s
20 best substance abuse prevention programs.
Organization
KFP is governed by an 18-member board of directors and has six full-time staff. Funding comes from various partners and has included, or currently includes,
the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services/Addiction and
Prevention Services Division; the Kansas Department of Transportation/Bureau of Traffic Safety; Kansas Health
Foundation; The Sunflower Foundation; The Topeka Community Foundation; Stormont-Vail Regional HealthCare; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas; Kansas
Department of Corrections; Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority; Ewing Kauffman Foundation; Kansas United Methodist Health Ministries;
and numerous private donors and contributors.
